Oh you!
My friends may like to chide
that I have wives, not one but four
If it was mine to decide
I would have liked a score
I have loved you in my dreams
but I have never seen your face
Today I am turning sixty
and I can take it no more
Whats the meaning of it all?
the question was on my mind
I kept staring at the wall
Not one answer did I find!
That morning I woke up
As the sun rose in sky
... it dawned on me
that the love of my life
is someone else's wife!
Oh you! Camilla!
29th April
This had to be posted soon, else it will be
too late.
A True Love Story
Run Run!! Don't look back. Look, there is a hole!! Run for the hole!
The terrain was too hilly. Rijka and Sulik ran till their heart ached. But they ran because they had to. This has become their daily routine. Priya was heartless, especially in a bad mood. And this showed in how hard Rijka and Sulik ran.
Rijka saw the ruler coming straight atop him and knew he had no chance of survival. He felt dreaded and helpless looking at the ruler. As the spider saying goes *we unite in death if not on earth*. So he pulled Sulik towards him and they both fell under the ruler. They lived in the Spider Heaven happily ever after.
guys, thought I should give you a happy ending fairy tale. :))
Entertainment News
The soup has been watered down. But we still don't get more soup says Tom Fenton
What we get in news is not factual reporting or investigative journalism, but mostly opinions. There is hardly any in-depth coverage. The advent of 24 hr News must have come as good omen; we would have thought we will hear news from all round the world, maybe we will spend more time understanding the problems that are pressing in our times. So little time is dedicated to any topic or issue that we don't have any education, but entertainment for a short span of time. Neither is more news events covered, only contents of popular events are rehashed to pamper to the popular ratings.
As an incident he quotes (and I paraphrase him here) [
I wanted to make a study of Al-Qaeeda and their history. Osama bin-laden, the man, his intentions, past, and his views. The network was not interested. It was happy for the world to see him as an arab who meant harm and nothing more. ]
Initially the FCC (
Federal Communications Commission) gave a portion of the airing time in return for a social service. Mostly this social service was news. After the cold war, FCC decided to remove this requirement. This has happened mostly around 80's and 90's after the cold war. Everything has been on the decline since.
Tom argues that the masses have been
dumbed down. Especially when terrorism and radiological weapons threaten our future, right when it is essential for the public to be proactive and knowledgeable, they have been
dumbed down. But unfortunately, in these crucial times, the media has grossly failed in its duty. It failed to deliver what it should, what it ought to, and what it promises.
Bad News : The Decline of Reporting, the Business of News, and the Danger to Us All : by Tom Fenton
The points made here were raised in a conversation with Jon Stewart at Daily Show, Comedy Central.
A Tribute to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
My first introduction to Nusrat Sahb, the sufi singer, was when I listened to Afreen Afreen. The wonderful lyrics of Javed Akhtar were filled with life. Just as in the poem it seemed as if all the elements of nature and its beauty has came to life in a single woman. The voice of Nusrat has the power to lighten any sorrow and inspire devotion of a strange kind in its listeners. A devotion to all things grand and infinite, in the spirit of Sufi music.
Nusrat started out as a Qawali singer in 1971. He reigned as the prince of Qawali. Mostly venturing into Bollywood and Pakistani film industry. Later he worked across continents with musicians such as Michael Brooks, Jan Garbarek, Eddie Vedder, and Peter Gabriel. He passed away form this world in 1997.

Ray Charles (Favorite Songs)
These are some of the songs I liked from the movie with links to their lyrics. His first real hit was
Mess Around. Followed by his hit
I've got a woman which blends
Gospel with
R&B (Rhythm and Blues).
What'd I say one of his all-time biggest hits was created on the spur of the moment and was eveloved over a tour and finally recorded in New York with Atlantic.
Unchain my heart is one of his other big hits. His first big hit after he joined ABC paramount was
Georgia on my mind. He broke his contract with ABC paramount and refused to perform for a segregated crowd. He was sued and banned from singing in Georgia in 1962. The ban was lifted in 1979 and the State of Georgia proclaimed Georgia on my mind as its state song.
All this is straight from
Ray, the movie (
IMDB link). But not everything there is apparently right. The
following website claims to set some of the controversies right.
The songs are amazing and you will be filled with rapture! Listen to Ray.
